Voltage and Amps

I understand that 2.5 volts is desired between plates as anything over 3 volts is wasted and converted to heat. With that said, what is the desired amperage?

 From Test Stand to Car

On my test stand I eventually went with 3 neutrals in between to increase gas production as my battery charger was limited to 10 amps and I could not increase the catalyst percent enough without the charger's breaker clicking off.
In the car it was different. I could increase the catalyst to pull 15 to 20 amps, but then the problem became one of heat. Back to 4 neutrals now (21 plates - for each of two cells. Went to 12 ml of 50% potassium hydroxide that produced 1 3/4 liters per minute, but overheated my 1/2 gallon reservoir in just over an hour (in car). Now have 1.5 gallon reservoir and can go over 3 hours (in car)before heat becomes a problem.

Ofcourse, you are alwais going to have some waste of energie transformed into heat.
I have read in a research that the optimun voltage per cell is 1.47V. never the less in order to get a higer production and savig in materials and space is a godd idea to use between 1.78V and 2.00V per cell. This way you are having a little less eficiency but a higher production and still if you fix well other parameters you shoudn´t have big increases in temperature of the electrolite and therefore you will not have big wastes in heat conversion and you will reduce the production of water vapour wich is good for eficiencie and for the quality of the produced gas as it has less proportion of water vapour.
