Mg + HCl

by Dan
(Australia)

I'm in Year 11 and we recently did an experiment to create our chosen gas, mine being Hydrogen. We used 4 molar Hydro-Chloric Acid (HCl) and half a gram of magnesium strips. We timed how quickly we could create 50mL of Hydrogen gas from when we dropped the magnesium in. Just 3.67 seconds is all it took! Very fun experiment.
