Iceland Hydrogen Economy Video Narrated By Alan Alda (Hawkeye Pierce) of MASH
Watch a video of how Iceland is using geothermal to produce hydrogen. This is a 100% renewable power for Iceland. In the last few years they have committed themselves to becoming the worlds first nation based upon a hydrogen economy. Which in turn would free themselves of imported oil.
The video also shows the massive hydrogen electrolyzer that gets it's power from geothermal. Geothermal energy is generated in the earth's core, about 4000 miles below the surface.
An electrolyser is a kind of reverse fuel cell stack. Instead of electricity being produced from a hydrogen fuel cell, hydrogen is produced from electricity splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen.
Instead of oil tankers driving around, you would have an on site hydrogen fueling station. That is the hydrogen would be produced from geothermal right at the fueling station.
